Shameless Self Promotion Video

I picked up a new webcam and some video editing software so I decided to practice putting together a video. I whipped this up quickly and it’s not polished as I was trying out the following things: 1. New webcam (Logitech Pro 9000), 2. Camtasia Studio 6 (screencasting software), 3. Windows Movie Maker (editing software), and 4. Vimeo Plus (for hosting videos). This is all being done to prepare for the Financial Fitness Course launch in September (you can pre-register to get the first two modules free by clicking here). More details to follow, in the meantime, here’s the video:

  3. Jacket and tie?
    You put me to shame.

  4. I voted for your blog, but I don’t get the W Network :(

You should record the episodes and put them up on youtube

  5. @ Mark Wolfinger – I just walked in the door and I was eager to play with my new toys… :)

@ Jordan – I’m sure I can’t redistribute the shows, but hopefully W will put them on their website in the future!

  6. A few tips:
-Make sure there is as little light behind you as possible. The open window behind you is slightly blacking out your face.
-i guess you did this on the kitchen table with your laptop, but try to do it in a place with a neutral coloured background. The (open :-) cabinets on the right and bright whiteout in the left are a distraction when we should be focused on you!

  7. @ Christopher – thanks for the great tips! I’ll definitely use them for the next video. Thanks!

  8. Copycat! I got the same webcam and software but use YouTube for hosting (http://www.youtube.com/riscario) and Camtasia for the editing. Lighting was a problem until I got two 500W halogen lights on a stand (results posted). To improve sound quality, I got a USB microphone (Samson C03U USB), which I also use for podcasting and with Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

After all that, I only made three videos, but plan more.

  9. Hmmm – Gideon Shalwick? :)
